Project Runway Recap: Between FLOTUS and the Finale (ep. 9)

Oh hello.

I know it’s been a while since we discussed Project Runway – and the finale episode is tomorrow – so I’m doing speed recaps of the past 5 episodes.

Episode 9: Create a high-fashion look for a L’Oreal advertorial. The designers get 2 days for the challenge (finally!). Not only does the winning designer get their look featured in the advertorial, they also win $20,000! This raises the stakes (obvs), and makes for an interesting new topic of conversation among the designers (besides how much the hate Michael C.) Most of the designers talk about how poor and broke they are, so it would be a big deal. April says that she’d like to buy a pony. Oh yeah – and at the last minute (of course) the designers have to create a ready-to-wear look to complement their couture. Naeem Khan is the guest judge! And says very constructive things like “let the fabric talk to you. You forced the fabric.”

Mondo won, Ivy lost; Gretchen and Andy were also in the top three. My most favorite garments also happened to be in the judges’ top three. I’m not going to say who did what, but it should be obvious.

Do you think you were successful in matching the designer to the garment? What did you think of these outfits?
