Outfit: Dots and Dashes

Mixing prints is fun! I kind of can’t get enough of it. For me this outfit works because both of the colors are basic and so are the prints; in fact, I feel like the top tones down what is sometimes a more fanciful skirt. I recently bought these shoes and I’m still in the honeymoon phase. They inspire me to make my outfits edgier. They might look uncomfortable but they’re quite easy to walk in.

Earrings: Betsey Johnson
Top: Gap
Skirt: vintage, bought in Tokyo
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell (99 Tie shoes)

Pattern mixing was scary to me at first, but then kind of addictive once I got into it. It lends so much visual interest to outfits. I think your mix of stripes and polka dots totally works (especially with the white print color drawing them together) and looks so fun 🙂

Very cute. I often feel completely incapable of mixing patterns but this inspires me, to maybe give it another shot 🙂
