{Where to Wear} NYC Rooftop Bars

It’s rooftop season! One of my favorite things to do in summer is sip a tasty drink on a beautiful rooftop. I’ve also been seeing some knock-out floral prints lately. Instead of buying them ALL, I’m going to scratch the itch by sharing them here with you instead. May I present to you: my four favorite NYC rooftop bars, and the perfect outfits to match. Bonus: you can check out all of these locations on this special Google Map.

Rooftop Reds & Runaway the Label

Let’s start in Brooklyn. Rooftop Reds doesn’t just give you a lovely view of Manhattan (as well as a tasty glass of wine) – it’s also a fully functional rooftop vineyard! I would call this location the most adventurous of the bunch. It’s located well within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, so it’s a bit of a hike. In fact, when my friends and I went to it was a bit of a puzzle to find. My friends accidentally came up the fire escape because they couldn’t find the real stairs!

CHERRY BLOSSOM SUIT - MULTI FLORAL

I’m pairing Rooftop Reds with this Cherry Blossom print suit. Just like a rooftop vineyard, it’s creative and unexpected.

Broken Shaker & Parker

First stop in Manhattan, the Broken Shaker (also known as the Freehand Hotel’s rooftop bar). I first discovered the Freehand Hotel shortly after it opened in NYC and I fell in love with the interior (I’ll give it its own post at some point). It’s funky, but also comfortable and relaxed. Like, a mix of hygge and craftsman style, with a healthy dose of greenery.

Parker Katarina Top and Carlo Shorts

I’m pairing the Broken Shaker with this citrus-y short set by Parker. It’s stylish and fun, but approachable; and because it’s linen – comfortable too!

230 Fifth Rooftop & Tory Burch

Moving west, the next stop is 230 Fifth Rooftop. Thats the name… but also the address. 230 Fifth has a multi-faceted vibe. It’s a great afternoon spot for tourists to relax while taking in the skyline–which includes an up-close view of Empire State Building! If you work in the area it’s a great spot to go for a couple of happy hour drinks. I vaguely remember that it gets really scene-y after dark. My optimal time to be there is between 3-7pm.

Poplin Shirtdress in Pink Poppies Bloom

I’m pairing 230 Fifth with this simple Tory Burch shirtdress. It’s a great dress for seeing sights but also goes well to work. Plus, the timelessness of this dress will serve you well for a nice photo in front of the Empire State Building.

Le Bain & Farm Rio

Furthest west we have Le Bain (the rooftop bar of the Standard Hotel). We’re in the Meatpacking now, so you must dress to impress. Whoever you are, take that person up to a 10.

Green paisley and floral print romper

I’m pairing Le Bain with this Farm Rio romper. To me it exudes a sultry hot summer night. This is taking a couple shots of tequila, seeing where the night takes me, and knowing I’ll look fabulous the whole time. Plus, of all the places to have to disrobe to use the bathroom, this is it. The bathrooms at the Standard provide a full, floor-to-ceiling view of the city. You will relish the hassle of having to undress.

Have you been to any of these spots? I’d love to hear what you think? Have NYC rooftop bars that you recommend? Let me know! And don’t forget, I compiled all these rooftop bars onto one Google Map: bit.ly/NYCrooftopbars.
