I guess it was only a matter of time, once fashion started paying attention to sneakers, that they would become highly stylized and questionably functional. Although on the other hand, it kind of makes sense – most of the time when people wear sneakers we’re not actually about to work out. We don’t need advanced foot cushioning technology to go to the grocery store.
That said, I’m still not fully on board with this trend. It reminds me of those hybrid truck/van or van/sedan cars, or like a PT Cruiser. You look at them and they just seem off. But let’s say I needed a cool pair of hiking sandals, I would definitely take those Stella McCartneys over a pair of Tevas.
