I really miss the days when I reviewed fashion apps for SF FashTech, so I’ve been meaning to revive that practice here on my blog. First up, Net-a-Porter’s new social network: the Net Set!
The welcome flow is pretty straight-forward. You start off by liking some items, brands/designers, and people from Net-a-Porter’s “style icons”, and joining style tribes.
My home page is a feed of products that either everyone has liked, or that the people I follow have liked. There are occasionally other types of images (editorial shots, user-uploaded photos) that people have liked, but it’s mostly products.
I’m super excited about being able to post my images, and connecting with fashion fans who enjoy the same aesthetics that I do. There’s a Pinterest-y aspect to this, in that I can post editorial images, product shots, or my own photos. Every image I post is both in my profile and posted to a designated style tribe. I really like that I can build my profile and contribute to the style tribes at the same time!
So far my favorite part of the app, besides what I can do with my profile, is the style tribes. They feel like very curated Pinterest boards, with a good mix of editorial images, product shots, and user uploaded selfies/outfit shots. It’s so fun to see all the different photos people have contributed to the feed (like two images above), and it’s a great way to find more interesting people to follow.
