I would just like to preface this post by admitting that I am crazy. About fashion, of course, but still a little bit crazy. And admittedly, I live in a little bit of a fashion bubble. I know several women who spend $1000 or more on a handbag or pair of shoes, which I have never done. Nonetheless, this post is NOT for the fashion-faint of heart.
So. Lanvin necklaces. Per yesterday’s post, I want one. I really really waaaannnnnttt one. I know it’s crazy, and I know they’re crazy expensive. Just engage in a brief suspension of disbelief as I talk myself through the choices…
1) Love
Top choice. This is probably not what Alber Elbaz had in mind when he designed these, but I feel like this necklace is a good reminder to “love thy neighbor”, and just generally be kind to others. Plus, the word “love” goes with both a girly look or a more androgynous outfit. And who doesn’t like love?!
2) Lanvin
I’m normally not into designer logo stuff, with two exceptions: Moschino and Lanvin. I love the fonts they’re written in (the block text of Moschino, and the script of Lanvin), and without the broad name recognition of, for example, Prada or Gucci, I wouldn’t feel as bad walking around with a huge Lanvin nameplate.
3) Cool (ring)
I love the size of this ring, and I think “cool” is the best word for it, because the ring is super cool. And that is also probably the first word that will come out of peoples’ mouths when they see it. The ring, however, is less whelming than any of the necklaces. Not underwhelming, just less whelming.
4) Beyond
This word is just too trendy. Plus the “n” is weirdly little. I would hope that this amount of money could buy a bigger “n”.
5) Happy
This word is fine… but I feel like I would just feel pressure to smile the whole time I was wearing it.
6) Cool
I’m okay with the word “cool”. I just feel like I would have to wear a specific type of outfit. Like, I couldn’t wear a voluminous, pink, floral skirt and wear this necklace. I’d have to wear black skinny jeans and a cropped jacket. Plus, I couldn’t actually find this version for sale anywhere on the Internet, anyway.
7) Help
This totally works in the context of a super cool photo shoot (ahem…), or possibly on a celebrity, but probably not on a real person. I can just imagine all the stares and comments I’d have to deal with!
So… am I totally crazy?
