{Shopping List} White Pumps

white-pumps

One chilly Chicago spring (while I was in college), I watched an episode of Sex and the City where Carrie wore white pumps. They weren’t at all integral to the story, but they were what stuck with me. I promptly went out and bought a pair of cheap-o white pumps that probably didn’t make it through an entire Chicago summer, but I loved them. And I’m really excited to see that white pumps are back. I definitely want to sport a pair this season, but with a couple of restrictions:

1. I’m getting tired of high heels, so anything over 3.5” needs a plaform.
2. I don’t want to break the bank! White shoes are more “save” than “splurge” for me.

So…. how do the above shoes rate?

ALDO
Pros: cool heel, $100.
Cons: 4” heel, no platform.

Saint Laurent
Pros: that shoe is hot!
Cons: 4.5” (with .5” platform), $625. $625! In my dreams.

BCBGeneration
Pros: $88.95.
Cons: 4” heel, no platform. Least exciting out of all these shoes.

J. Crew
Pros: I like the 2-tone color; chunky heel, 3.75” (with .25” platform!).
Cons: $378.
*This one is slightly off-white, so possibly worth paying more to wear through several more seasons. Or worth waiting till it goes on sale!

French Connection
Pros: 2.5” heel! 2.5” heel! Shut up and take my money. I like that little blue stripe too.
Cons:
$120. Which is not really a con.

What do you think – are you into white pumps this season?

When I was seventeen I bought some white peep toe pumps for my cousin’s wedding. I LOVED them and wore them all the time during summer, and then when I moved to Paris I even wore them in winter with black tights (yes, I know!).

These days I hardly ever wear any lighter colours but I do think they look really good. Of the selection I prefer the BCBGenerations – even though they are the least exciting I do think they’re the most classic!
