How much is my shopping freeze worth? $76, apparently. Over the weekend I was craving the sight of something beautiful, so I made a little trip to H.D. Buttercup, a delightful furniture store. It was the last day of the half-yearly sale, and I couldn’t let it end without at least witnessing it. I’ve gotten a bit more into home stuff lately but I can never commit to furniture, so while I had an open mind I wasn’t too worried about falling in love with anything. But then I found the textiles: kantha bedspreads and a sheepskin throw blanket.
I fell completely in love. I love having blankets around, plus I’m totally into fur (fake or real (but within reason!) sorry vegans/PETA), so obviously the sheepskin blanket is perfect. Although on second thought, I did just buy a reindeer hide… Maybe I should take a chill pill with the animal stuff, and sleep on it. Meanwhile, I could not take my eyes off the deep blue, mustard, and burgundy of the one kantha bedspread, and I adored the print of the one in red, white and blue. But I guess since neither of them was absolutely perfect, it made sense to sleep on it, as well.
But since this was the last day of the sale, sleeping on it would cost me! Coming back after the sale would cost me $31 for the sheepskin blanket and $45 for the kantha bedspread. I thought about it. I thought about the money I’m saving on this freeze – and the self-control I’m shoring up. And for me, the $76 is worth it.
PS: this post was composed on my iPhone. Hope it doesn’t look too weird!
