Ok, so I was recently featured in a Q&A on the StyleUp blog. They called me a modern icon – how flattering! Now, what is StyleUp, you say? StyleUp is a pretty new website/newsletter that performs what I believe is a very valuable service: it helps you dress for the weather! I hate being cold or underdressed – although I’m trying to be more brave about wearing bare legs – so every day it’s about dressing for the weather but still keeping it chic. Here are a some of my favorite StyleUp dispatches to show you how the website works:
StyleUp for December 6: Rain in the morning…then showers likely in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 60s. South winds 15 to 20 mph… Becoming southwest 5 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
StyleUp for January 2: Sunny. Highs in the lower 50s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.
StyleUp for January 16: Sunny. Highs in the mid 50s. Northeast winds around 10 mph.
Right now StyleUp is an email newsletter that you sign up for, but I was chatting with a friend and we came up with an even better idea: an app where people can upload their outfit and input their ZIP code so a weather report attached to that outfit. You could then generate a feed of what people in different areas have worn for different types of weather. I don’t know how StyleUp finds their photos now, but this seems like a really fun way to crowdsource it.
And speaking of the weather, there’s another website I’ve been frequenting, called wevther. It’s a fun site that finds the weather in your area and shows you a few items you might like to wear. Click in the top right corner to filter by women’s/men’s. For me it’s not as helpful as StyleUp, but still fun to look at!
