{Red Carpet Round-up} Emmy’s 2012

Sooooo, the Emmy’s happened last night?! For some reason I remember them being much later in the season, but I suppose this provides a nice boost to all the fall shows that have returned from summer break. I checked out photos from two different slideshows (Vulture, Fashionista.com), and I was fairly underwhelmed. I saw a lot of pretty, but not a lot of interesting. Out of 70+ looks I saw, just 11 seemed remarkable.

Red, Red Carpet

Red is a tricky color for a red carpet situation; gowns needs to be strong enough to compete with the carpet – and win. These fire engine red frocks were victorious.

Anna Gunn

Gretchen Mol in RARE Vintage New York

Tangerine Dream

I can’t help it. I adore bright colors.

Padma Lakshmi in Monique Lhuillier

Julianne Moore in Dior Haute Couture

Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier

Leslie Mann in Naeem Khan

Structured

Drapey or frothy dresses are all well and good, but it’s easy for them to get lost in the crowd of confections. These dresses used structured elements for a stand-out style statement.

January Jones in Zac Posen

Emilia Clarke in Chanel

Wild Card

These dresses don’t have anything in common, except that I liked them both.

Lena Dunham in Prada

Jena Malone in J. Mendel

What do you think of this year’s Emmy’s red carpet? Who wore your favorite dress? For me, January Jones was the best dressed of the entire evening.
