Last weekend I spent the greater part of the morning on location with the S.F. based Asterisk magazine, doing a shoot for their upcoming food issue. This is certainly the most involved photoshoot I’ve been on – whether as a model or stylist’s assistant. As you can see in several of the photos, both a white sheet thing (not actually a bed sheet) and hand-held foils were used in the shoot. Man, those foils were hot! And blinding. I had to keep my sunglasses on because with the foil right in front of my face I got super squinty. The funniest moment happened while we were shooting in the Ferry Building: all the equipment is set up and we’ve started taking photos when this random old guy wanders up to me, points to some cookies and asks, “is that soap?” I answered “no, they’re cookies… And um, we’re actually taking photos right now.” I guess if he was blind/oblivious enough to walk right through all the equipment, it was also enough to think a bakery was selling soap.
