At the beginning of this week I had a most lovely time with the ladies behind the Cake Plate boutique in Napa, sisters Lindsay and Paige. They invited me up to shoot some images for their next in-store pop-up shop launching in April. They haven’t announced the designer yet, but it’s one of my favorite labels so I was more than thrilled to participate. During this shoot I felt like a real model. Not because I had my make-up done, or because I did a photo shoot. But because it was really cold outside, and I had to pretend to be warm.
Notice how I’m in sleeveless dresses with bare legs, and the photographer is quite bundled up. There was one scene where I was holding a glass of ice water and I had to pretend like it was a really hot day. Although I’m probably making it sound a lot worse than it was – I had a really good time! After a few minutes the chill didn’t bother me at all, and thankfully I don’t think the photographer’s camera captured by goosebumps; or if it did, she can photoshop it out!
The jaunt up to Napa was not all work, however. The next day Paige and I hit up a couple of Napa’s most picturesque wineries, Swanson and Reata.
At Swanson Vineyards, Rosemary greeted us outside with a glass of viognier. The décor inside the salon was incredible, as well as in their tented tasting room. And quite possibly the cheekiest and most entertaining wine labels I’ve ever seen.
Most of the wineries I visit that are stunning on the outside turn out to be quite boring indoors, but not so at Reata Winery. The interior is beautiful as well, and they even have a cowhide couch! That’s legit.
I can’t wait for Cake Plate to announce who their next designer is! Follow them on Facebook to get the news first, and to see more behind-the-scenes shots from the photoshoot.
