When I do holiday shopping, the first question is not “what do I want to get?” It’s “where do I want to buy?” Practically speaking, there are enough crowds and confusion around the holidays without having to navigate a completely unfamiliar place. But more importantly than that, if you do it right, gift giving can be a great way to introduce someone to a new idea. My first few pieces of jewelry were given to me as gifts. I stuck with those gifted pieces for a few years before branching out on my own. If there’s something you’re really interested in, whether it be fashion, film, art, cooking, etc… you’re probably the best person to get your friend or family member started!
And if you’re still not sure what to get for the people on your list, I’ve compiled over 30 stress-free suggestions that are sure to delight and inspire anyone on your list. And for your convenience – everything is available online.
ART
Notes: Another artist you should check out is Gabrielle Rose of Draw Gabby Draw. Her beautiful, whimsical drawings are available on Etsy. Read my Tumblr post for a code to get 15% off her shop. Fab.com is running a deal on art from 20×200, click here for an invite if you’re not already a member.
OBJETS
Notes: Museums stores are one of my favorite places to find objets, as is Restoration Hardware. They might seem random, but for me it’s proven ground.
ACCESSORIES
Notes: One more suggestion for gift giving – unless you know the recipient well OR they are totally clueless, stay away from giving clothing. If the recipient isn’t sure about the gift, accessories are much easier for people to digest and play with. An important exception is cashmere sweaters – can’t go wrong with those!
