A Thanksgiving Feast

In real life I always get really excited about Thanksgiving. This year, for the first time ever, I hosted an entire Thanksgiving dinner on my own. Inspired by family traditions, I made sure to have sparkling cider and lots of pie.

15 apples, 6 potatoes, 3 sweet potatoes, 1 butternut squash: all peeled, chopped and cooked for Thanksgiving dinner.

A week prior to the holiday I found out that it takes five hours to cook a turkey, so instead I ordered some turkey breast from Lilah Belle‘s. Sparkling cider is present at every holiday meal in my family. It’s non-negotiable. The stuffing, made with cornbread baked from scratch, turned out to be the hit of the evening.

Around the holidays I also get super obsessed with pie (this year I made three). If there is absolutely one dish I associate with Thanksgiving – besides turkey – it’s apple pie. Every year growing up my sister and I would help my mother with the holiday pies, until finally we were old/skilled enough to make one of our own. My pies have never been as pretty as my mother’s or sister’s, but they taste just as good!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and a weekend full of leftovers! Now, who’s excited for cyber Monday?!
