Guerilla Fashion Week: Scenes from the Shows

Even though I arrived in New York Wednesday morning, I didn’t visit Lincoln Center until Friday night; up until that point most of my activities were located in Chelsea. Here are a few photos from the rest of the Fashion Week madness… be warned, these are total guerrilla shots.

UNITED BAMBOO

Clockwise from top left: runway, runway, photo pit, runway, live music during the show.

COSTELLO TAGLIAPIETRA

Left to right: Made Fashion Week (at Milk Studios) schedule, runway.

GenArt FRESH FACES

From top: empty runway, runway with model. In front of me there was a couple canoodling and periodically locking lips. I wanted to tap them and say, “excuse me but this is a fashion show, not the Champagne room.”

LINCOLN CENTER

Clockwise from top left: a Mercedes-Benz on display, self-service check-in kiosk, video display.

Clockwise from top: me in front of a large sign, I felt good because I got invites, a list of all the designers showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

“CELEBRITY” SIGHTINGS

Some of these you’ll just have to trust me on. Clockwise from top left: “Miss J” from America’s Next Top Model at Costello Tagliapietra; Becky from this season’s Project Runway at Lincoln Center; Bill Cunningham!!!! coming out of Pink Tartan; Man Repeller and Susie Bubble at United Bamboo; Andrew Mukamal at Costello Tagliapietra.

A word about models:

1. Some of them are skinny… and some of them are skin and bones. You can be a model and still have a healthy body. And clothes look far better on a healthy person than on a sack of skin. Seeing protruding bones is NOT attractive, and doesn’t make your clothes look better.

2. Some of them have very bad posture. That was a surprise.
