Guerilla Fashion Week: Rachel Antonoff & Pink Tartan

One of the things I learned during Fashion Week was the difference between a runway show and a presentation. It’s nothing I couldn’t have guessed, but instead I experienced it first-hand. There are no seats for a traditional presentation, no runway; instead you enter a room where the models remain stationary in their looks. Based on the two presentations and three runway shows I attended, I can say the former are more visually interesting because they can create an entire scene, while the latter focus more of your attention on the clothes because there are only one or two pieces in your line of sight at any given time. I enjoyed both approaches.

RACHEL ANTONOFF

Her presentation called upon a fashion-forward version of Wednesday Addams.

PINK TARTAN

Pink Tartan staged a non-traditional presentation, which I quite enjoyed. It successfully conveyed “preppy femme-bot”.

Here are my favorite looks:

Rachel Antonoff and Pink Tartan have markedly different aesthetics. Which do you prefer?

It’s hard for me to choose between them, as I love both aesthetics. That red on red Pink Tartan situation is seriously awesome, though.

I’ve never personally been on a fashion show before so reading your post about how the models are often stationary in a room was enlightening. I can definitely see how dramatic this looks and how much attention is placed on the attire.
Love the scene created in that second photo (DSC02919), it really works – and I really like the navy polka dot clothes. Polka dots are hot right now. 🙂
