Hark, is that a Missoni for Target skirt already being worn in public?
How, you may ask, have I already worn an outfit with pieces from the Missoni for Target collaboration, when it hasn’t even gone live? Three words: Fashion’s Night Out. FNONYC featured a special Missoni for Target pop-up shop across from Bryant Park.
I heard reports that the line was several hundred people deep; lucky for me Purdy (P.) of 365FashionRehab had snagged a spot in line early on, with Sarah of Hunt Gather Fashion. Nearly an hour before the pop-up opened I joined them with my friend Annie of Streatstyle. Thanks to Purdy and Sarah we were all within the first 100 within the store!

Even though we were in the first batch to enter, it was already chaos inside. Luckily, we came up with a strategy in line: we all had specific areas to hit, we were to grab multiples, reconvene, and then figure out who wanted what. Annie decided to abstain, in the name of photojournalistic excellence. For proof of the mayhem, check out her blog post.
I ended up with this skirt and this scarf (on the left), thanks to Purdy’s quick grab, and these tights. I was dying for a pair of flats simply because my feet were hurting, but by the time we got in there were absolutely none to be found. I almost got this make-up case (in orange); if I had realized brushes were included it probably would have made the cut. At the last minute I decided I wanted this weekend bag, but there were none to be found, except those that were already carried by people waiting in line. I tried to barter by offering up this dress in exchange, but nobody was interested. It was worth a shot! This was guerrilla fashion week, after all.
In all the excitement over the products, two special guests almost went unnoticed…
Missonis! Margherita and Angela dropped in on the pop-up. The funny thing is, people were so engrossed with shopping they barely seemed to notice. (An ideal situation for any celebrity who wants to blend in.)
Overall it was really tempting to load up on anything and everything because it was MISSONI! And some people were… but then it’s like, what would you actually do with an entire wardrobe and home done up in Missoni stripes and zig-zags? It would be too much.
If you want to plan on going to a local Target tomorrow morning, I suggest you go with a friend to divide and conquer. If you want to be really organized, check out the full Missoni for Target Lookbook to plan what you want to buy. Good luck and Godspeed!
