Last weekend I made an unexpected trip to BellJar. Remembering it as a shop where everything prohibitively expensive, I popped in only to kill a few minutes before meeting a friend nearby. It’s a good thing he was running late, because a very pleasant surprise awaited me, and sucked me in for a lengthy visit.
At first my experience was pretty normal; I found a beautiful summer dress that, at $300, was priced way out of my range.
Major bummer, but par for the course at BellJar. Yet after more browsing, I was completely caught off guard – I found reasonably priced clothes!
Lace top, lace blazer, printed skirt, all with prices hovering around $50. I could buy the entire outfit for half the price of that dress. Quelle surprise! And it gets better. I found a similar top at Anthropologie for $80, and a similar blazer on Shopbop for – wait for it… $507 (on sale).
I know it’s hard to see the lace blouse that I tried on, but trust me that it looks similar to the one above. As someone who spends a lot of time on the computer (hello, blog) and online shopping, this is a good reminder to step away, get outside, and patronize the manifold, marvelous boutiques nearby. I’m sure BellJar will be seeing a lot more of me soon.
**UPDATE 7/7: Get 50% off at BellJar, up to $40 through 01/07/12. Get it free with ScoutMob. Thanks for the tip Eileen!
