Outfit: MissRepresentation

A couple of weeks ago a friend and I went to see MissRepresentation, screened in the San Francisco International Film Festival. You can see the trailer here, and if it comes to your city you should do everything you can to go see it.

After seeing a film about the representation (mis-representation) of women in the media I felt kind of silly getting my friend do shoot my outfit photos in the parking garage, but I actually think outfit blogging can a really positive force in this context: fashion bloggers are interpreting what we see around us, and creating our own representation – not just accepting what we advertised to us. Heavy for an outfit post, I know. This is a subject I’d like to discuss more, but until I decide how I want to go about doing that here’s what I wore to the film:

I was particularly proud of myself for two things: not wearing a jacket, and carrying a small bag. I generally anticipate being cold, (hello SF fog!) or without something I need. But I’m trying to be a more confident dresser in those respects. That night I was neither cold, nor I was I missing any necessary object. #winning! (are people still saying that?)
