Remember that amazing J. Crew leopard fedora I blogged about a couple of weeks ago? Well a couple of days later I went to the store to buy it… and it was completely sold out. Bust!
Sure, I already have a leopard accessory here and there – a scarf, a bangle. But my quest for an animal print is not over. Flipping through the September issue of Elle today, I was reminded that there any many other ways to get my leopard on.
My top choice? These Tory Burch lace-up booties:
However, weighing in at 4.75” high (with only a 3/4” platform), they are so utterly impractical for me, it’s ridiculous. A 4” heel is my upper limit – and that’s with a much heftier platform. It would be far more practical to buy a flat.
Like one from (from top) Kate Spade, Banana Republic, or J. Crew. That would be really easy, but I’m feeling a bit more adventurous. After all, I’ve had this animal print moment for quite some time, so not just anything can satiate it. Luckily I’ve already found something that seems like a great middle ground.
Jeffrey Campbell moccasins: still practical, yet duly interesting. I’m about to go on vacation, and I try to make it a rule not to go shopping up to two weeks (basically a paycheck) before I take a vacation, but if I still want them once I get back I’m going to go for it.
To be honest, it’s not just leopard prints I’m into, it’s all things animal. Like these fur covered booties from Opening Ceremony.
And I’m totally digging the Chanel fall 2010 ad campaign, wherein the models are presented as half human, half sasquatch.
Lanvin is on trend,
and even Max Mara.
How awesome are those fur covered mittens?! Even though I live in San Francisco I would totally find a place and time to rock those… although it might require some travel. And last but not least, I’m totally digging animal-inspired booties from Maison Martin Margiela.
Sheep and snakes are animals too, after all. Although a teal velvet snake is probably a mythical creature.
