Fierce is spelled V-E-N-U-S-S-U-P-E-R-S-T-A-R

A couple of weekends ago when I was out on my Mission Walkabout, I ended the afternoon at a wonderful boutique just a few doors down from my apartment, Bianca Starr. There’s always a welcoming vibe at that place, but even more so that day because the boutique was having a little party with a DJ and some baked goods for sale out front. I walked in and saw the most amazing jewelry I’ve ever seen – the Venus Superstar collection. The pieces are cool, edgy and most of all, creative. I was immediately drawn to a certain necklace – a long chain decorated with real feathers dipped in gold foil. But I fell in love with the cuffs and chains. Yes, cuffs and chains. I thought my frohawk brought out my inner badass – but apparently I had a little more left and and it wants to be seen in Venus Superstar. My favorite piece:

I love the different sized stars and then the small lightning bolt that dangle from this cuff. It’s cool on its own, but gets better when it catches the light. And yet better when you see the matching lightning bolt earring for the other side. The asymmetry of a star burst erupting from a cuff on one side, then a single lightning bolt daintily hanging from a stud on the other is fresh… and empowering. It’s saying to the world: I don’t care if you only see one side of me, I know I’m awesome. I know what I got. BAM!

I mentioned my shopping cleanse to Rebecca, the designer behind Venus Superstar, and told her that I’m coming back for these ones. April 1st! Here are more of my favorite pieces:

In the store Rebecca and I started discussing celebs who might wear Venus Superstar. This is a very distinct flavor of jewelry, but I could totally see Beyoncé as Sasha Fierce rocking this with her metallic glove and Thierry Mugler bodysuits on stage. Adam Lambert (Adam Glambert, as he is in my head); Rihanna; Green Day; half the crews on America’s Best Dance Crew, or anybody who is not famous but confident about standing out. Anybody who is ready to look like a superstar.

Venus Superstar is… “sexy earthy cutting edge jewelry for your everyday goddess” You can find the jewelry at: BACKSPACE 351 divisadero st.@ oak; IDEELE 1700 haight street; THERAPY 545 valencia street; COLLAGE CLOTHING 1331 18th st@texas;  BIANCA STARR 3552 20th st @valencia.

Vintage clothing shopping/browsing is one of my favorite San Francisco past-times. I almost like them (vintage clothing stores) as much as the cable cars and street trees! Kudos on your blog, Adelle!
