Halloween 2011: My First Foray Into DIY Nail Art

Every year I bah-humbug Halloween only to half-ass a costume at the last minute. I already knew the mouse ears would make another appearance this year… and then I discovered nail art. I saw “Frankenails” featured in Refinery 29 and decided to be “Franken-Minnie”.

In order to make it Minnie, I changed the color scheme.

I started out with dark purple, realized it was too close to black and then switched to the brighter pink.

After putting the entire outfit together I remembered that the real Minnie Mouse wears gloves… but she also doesn’t wear leopard print, so whatever.

Now that my Halloween nails have come and gone, I’m excited to expand my repertoire into Thanksgiving. Still relying on Refinery 29 tutorials, however; after all, I’m still a nail-art noob!

hehe very nice! I was going to do the Frankenstein nails but my nail art pens were leaking so I ended up doing blood spatter nails 🙂
