Outfit: Blue Dress for a Blue Sky

I hear there was a massive snowstorm in the Northeast last week. Meanwhile, San Francisco is still (finally) in the midst of our Indian Summer.

This dress was a recent purchase and I couldn’t wait to wear it. It had been on my Anthropologie wishlist for several months and finally got marked down nearly 80%; although at that price it was sold out in my size. Someone must have returned it because out of the blue one was available. But once I snatched it up (which I did at top speed), it was immediately sold out again.

To allow the beautiful and exuberant print to be front and center, I kept accessories simple.

For a blogger meet-up that night I still wanted to wear the pretty dress, but I needed to make it more interesting without piling things on.

And voilà: day-to-night! Note: adding black is a great way to make pretty things more edgy for after dark. If you don’t want to pile on the black, add one item such as tights, a belt, or a sweater.

Day: dress – Anthropologie, shoes – vintage, purse – Ann Taylor, blue ring – Therapy (SF), bicycle ring – Density (SF). Night: sweater – Mink Pink, boots – Sam Edelman, leggings – Hue.
