Guerilla Fashion Week: IFBcon

September 11, 2011

Fashion Week

I discovered the Independent Fashion Bloggers (IFB) group and the IFB conference shortly after I began blogging two years ago and after streaming multiple IFBcons through my computer I was thrilled to finally attend in person.

With informative panels (Bloggers Tool Kit, Is the Social Media Industry Broken?, Balancing Act: Business & Blogging, Evolution of Fashion Media); personal blogger favorites (Man Repeller, Song of Style, Grit and Glamour, Pretty Shiny Sparkly); and industry luminaries such as Yuli Ziv, Ari Goldberg, supermodel Coco Rocha and Elle Magazine’s Joe Zee the day was packed with information and excitement. Oh – and a special visit from Marina Missoni.

Marina Missoni came to life thanks to two puppeteers and one woman with a remote control.

You could get your hair done by KMS California, visit the Magnum nail bar (I got a shatter manicure), ogle Aldo shoes or play at their casino table.

Super bloggers Song of Style/Aimee Song, Pretty Shiny Sparkly/Kristina Medhus; the energetic and engaging Ari Goldberg of StyleCaster, and supermodel Coco Rocha (!) during the “Balancing Act: Business and Blogging” panel; not pictured: Grechen Cohen, Annie Tomlin, Natalie Suarez.

Tina Craig (aka Bag Snob) does a Q&A with Joe Zee. Coming into this I didn’t know much about Joe Zee, but I came out of it with a great deal of respect and admiration for him.

Joe Zee with Jennine Jacob of the Coveted and founder of IFB. There was obviously a swarm of admirers around Joe Zee once his q&a was over. I didn’t care about getting a photo taken with him, but I did manage to get my business card in his hand and tell him that as much as I already love Elle magazine, I feel even better about it knowing it’s in great hands!

Kim of J’Adore Couture. I looooved her outfit. I thought she had found the perfect romper, but turns out it was shorts and a blouse. And I could not get enough of her shoes!

Check out J’Adore Couture for great sound-bytes from the conference.
