A red carpet awards show in the fall? That’s like Christmas in July! I totally forgot that the Emmys happened around this time, but it makes sense that they would take place in anticipation of the fall return of our favorite shows. Not everyone on the red carpet was able to win an award, but a few lucky ladies made it onto my list of superlatives:
Dressed Most Unlike Your TV Character: January Jones
Betty Draper would probably send herself into therapy if she ever wore this. (Atelier Versace)
Friendly Purple Dinosaur Effect: Emily Deschanel
Look at those feet! (Max Azria Atelier)
The Little Orphan Annie award for “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile”: Rose Byrne
Beautiful dress, but she’s practically naked. (Gucci)
Most Tragic Cut-Out – Maria Menounos
This dress is gorgeous on its own; the patch of bare skin is distracting. (Ralph & Russo)
Most Confused Celeb – Padma Lakshmi
You’re a reality TV personality/foodie, not a Victoria’s Secret angel. (Carolina Herrera)
The Chloë Sevigny award for Wearing Something Unexpected and Making It Beautiful: Maura Tierney
Love it. (vintage from The Way We Wore)
Looks Most Like the Inside of a Banana: Sofia Vergara
If you cut a banana the long way it looks just like this in the middle. (Carolina Herrera)
Best Mother/Daughter Pair: Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri
Ok, maybe the only mother/daughter pair, but don’t they look great together?! (from left: Donna Karan, vintage Thierry Mugler)
Best Golden Girl Tribute (literally): Heather Morris and Claire Danes
An unwitting tribute to Betty White and her gaggle of geriatric girls. (from left: Ina Soltani, Armani Privé)
and last, but certainly not least:
The Michelle Obama award for Best Biceps: Rutina Wesley
I don’t know who you are, but clearly you’ve been working out. (Douglas Arnette)

Tee hee! So true about the split banana! I didn’t even recognize Betty Draper! I’ve been away for the last week and a half so I missed the Emmy’s and haven’t seen the last couple episodes of Project Runway. I’ll have to catch up before I can read any more of your blog!
