BCBG #Fail

A couple of Sundays ago I was overwhelmingly enamored of my ribbed tank top collection… and blogged about it. (That’s when I knew it was time to have a separate fashion blog.)

I’ve always been a fan of ribbed tank tops as a wardrobe basic – so when BCBG reduced the price on their super-soft ribbed tank tops a few weeks ago I naturally snapped up a few different colors. Next came the “honeymoon” period. Similar to when I discover a new favorite song and play it on repeat, I was wearing my ribbed tanks non-stop. Until I had to wash them. And then the honeymoon ended.

BCBG #Fail

After one round in my washing machine a little hole sprouted! When I first saw the logo hardware in the store I thought it was silly to put on such a little tank. Now I just wonder why BCBG would do that – did none of the designers consider that such a relatively heavy item attached to a light piece of material might cause the fabric to tear? Of course, adding a logo often means that you can charge more for a piece of clothing, but they could have acheived the same effect – and preserved the integrity of the garment – by embroidering the logo. I’m not sure which option has a lower production cost – a piece of hardware costs more than thread, but they obviously didn’t put a lot of effort into the sewing job, and embroidery is even more time and labor intensive.

I think you should barge in there and DEMAND a refund! This is why I can’t spend lots of money on clothes; I’m terrible at taking care of them, and so when holes sprout or things shrink I have only myself to blame :'(
